Another edition of our bi-weekly GIS / Geo tech news round-up.
From today's edition...
Welcome again to another GIS/Geo Tech industry news round-up. Indeed this has been a busy fall travel season, there's likely many of you that are still bouncing around at events like this week's Trimble Dimensions in Vegas, AU coming later this month (also in lost Wages) and various LUGS, DevMeets, and the like. A couple of interesting events I've noticed that you may want to take note of include: Ignite boulder next month in Boulder CO (see also "Global Ignite week" on Google to find an event near you in the new year), the Esri DevMeetup traveling roadshow has a number of stops left on their calendar, WhereCamp5280 hits Denver later this month, Rocket City Geospatial hits Huntsville later in Movember, and the Euro LiDAR Conference rolls at the end of this month - see our Geo Events calendar for more or seek out the aformentioned events on Google or Twitter. You mobile developers, wanna-be mobile devs, or those just curious about this space (and if you develop apps and services you should be!) take note that Forum Nokia is planning an interesting developer meet next month in Chicago. This is a fabulous opportunity to hear, learn and get your hands dirty developing for Qt - Nokia and NAVTEQ are also tempting developers with $millions, see more here.
In the GIS / Geo Tech news arena we have a few interesting updates that stand out today including: a reminder about the latest from LizardTech in GeoExpress 8 and a tip off about a useful new White Paper from the company to inform you about the latest in MrSID; NASA and Esri Agreement Supports GIS Initiatives - GIS plays a key role in NASA's earth science research initiatives, which involve global efforts to monitor and study the factors of climate change; SuperGeo Develop Dynamic Bus Info & Transit System for Taichung City - goal of the project is to integrate the tourism and dynamic bus information with Web-GIS technology; OtterBox Launches OtterCares Foundation - A single stone dropped into still water creates a large ripple effect that spreads far beyond the initial drop!
