We’ve all heard the term but do we all really understand exactly what Gov 2.0 is {or anything 2.0 for that matter}?
I recently stumbled onto an interesting slideshare presentation created by HP that showed off some of the findings of a recent Government IT survey. Of particular interest was the description of Gov2.0.
Simply put, Gov 2.0 is a movement towards collaboration – makes sense and actually, we see the “2.0″ suffix tacked onto many websites, resources, and the like, simply to convey [it seems] the adoption of more interactive functionality, collaborative features, and tighter integration with social media.
Some items from the research to help explain Gov 2.0:
Gov 2.0 is an attempt to revolutionize government and the way that government does business
Gov 2.0 promotes brainstorming and experimentation to achieve results
Gov 2.0 allows for complete transparency. collaboration, participation, and innovation by incorporating technology unlike anything before it {I like that one!}
Gov 2.0 is a helpful and quick way to get in touch with the government and connect employees and programs
Gov 2.0 gives users the choice to interact or collaborate in a social media dialogue as well as being in a virtual community
