OpenGeo unveils Suite Enterprise Edition 2.2  E-mail
Written by OpenGeo
28 September 2010
Industry leading geospatial software solution now includes enhanced tools for rapid building of enterprise applications.

New York, NY, September 28, 2010 – OpenGeo today unveiled version 2.2 of its OpenGeo Suite Enterprise Edition, a significant upgrade to its tightly integrated, end-to-end solution for building web maps.  The Suite enables geospatial professionals and enterprise developers to quickly create, review, update, manage, store, and distribute secure mapping applications.

The OpenGeo Suite 2.2 enables users to quickly do more complex styling and composition by integrating major improvements to Styler and GeoExplorer as well as enhanced versions of PostGIS, GeoServer, and GeoWebCache.  Responding to user requests, Version 2.2 also introduces printing, improved raster support, and the Google Maps v3 API.  An improved GeoWebCache also provides seamless configuration of layer groups and control flow with GeoServer 2.0.

In addition to the more robust and flexible toolset, OpenGeo now offers a full version of the OpenGeo Suite hosted in the Skygone and Amazon cloud computing environments.  OpenGeo’s offerings provide a virtual, self-contained environment where enterprise developers can prototype, develop, and test mapping applications without needing to install and configure the OpenGeo Suite themselves.

“The new OpenGeo Suite Enterprise Edition 2.2 leverages a streamlined workflow for styling, composing, and scaling web mapping applications.  OpenGeo combines a comprehensive solution with a cloud environment to further support our enterprise developer community,” said Chris Holmes, President of OpenGeo.

The OpenGeo Suite Enterprise Edition 2.2 delivers essential new educational resources, including workshops and online videos, which allow developers to further extend their knowledge base.  “By making it easier to learn about the OpenGeo Suite we are ensuring that professionals – at all levels – are better equipped to harness the power of geospatial services on the web,” said Mike Pumphrey, head of education at OpenGeo.

The OpenGeo Enterprise Edition 2.2 is immediately available for a 30-day trial on http://opengeo.org.
