GeoPoint, NetWitness Technologies Integrated to Track Criminals on the Internet
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 21 -- Quova, Inc., the world's leading provider and developer of Web geography services and technologies, and Forensics Explorers, a provider of network forensics technology to the information security and law enforcement market, announced today that they have partnered to launch GeoLookup(TM), a new service designed to help law enforcement agencies track criminals on the Internet. Quova's GeoPoint(TM) technology has been integrated into Forensic Explorers' NetWitness(R) product suite to produce the GeoLookup service, which Forensic Explorers will deliver to law enforcement organizations and government agencies to give them the ability to quickly investigate and prosecute Internet crimes.
"Our integration of Quova's GeoPoint service into the NetWitness product suite will provide our customers with the best available information to track online criminals," said Mark Longworth, vice president of Forensics Explorers. "Of all the technologies we evaluated, Quova's GeoPoint proved uniquely suited to our customers' needs."
The NetWitness product suite is based upon a collection of patent-pending technologies that model what users do with computer networks. NetWitness forensically collects and analyzes data so that network events can be easily reviewed. GeoPoint, the enterprise-level software solution that instantly determines the real-world geographic location of a web site visitor, provides the geolocation data that is central to the functionality of the NetWitness(R) GeoLookup service.
"A major challenge for law enforcement and corporate security is trying to geographically locate the source of an attack or location of a suspect based on an IP address," said Brian Girardi, Director of Forensics Services for Forensics Explorers. "In the past, manual investigative methods proved slow and inaccurate. GeoLookup takes the guesswork out of Internet investigations -- saving time and money."
"Quova's geolocation technology has proven itself as an investigative tool of great value to large government agencies," said Tom Miltonberger, SVP of products for Quova. "By partnering with Forensics Explorers to develop the GeoLookup service, we are bringing the same capability to local law enforcement and corporate security, and we believe the market will give this solution a tremendous reception."
