Aurora, Colo., July 28, 2010-GITA announces that 2010 GITA President Cindi Salas, Director, Land and Field Services for CenterPoint Energy in Houston, TX, has withdrawn from the association's Board of Directors. The position of President will be filled in accordance with the association's bylaws.
First appointed to the GITA's Board of Directors in an At Large capacity in 2005, Ms. Salas served as Secretary for the association in 2008 and was elected to President-Elect the following year. She began her term as President in January 2010 and presided over the association's Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference in Phoenix in April.
Ms. Salas' long history of service to GITA includes active participation in the Industry Trends and Analysis Groups (ITAG), where she served as Electric Industry Coordinator from 2004 through 2009. She served as Chairperson of the GIS for Oil & Gas Conference in Houston in 2007, and also has been a member of the Research Committee since 2007. Among her more recent accomplishments is an appointment by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to the National Geospatial Advisory Council (NGAC) in January 2010.
The GITA Board of Directors acknowledges Cindi Salas' departure from the association's leadership with sincere thanks for her many years of service and with best wishes for her continued professional success.
