MUNICH / ESSEN, June 17th, 2010 - Are you trying to find your way around a huge indoor event such as a trade fair or a large museum exposition?
The KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2010 Channel is the first real life implementation of junaior`s advanced indoor navigation capabilities on your smartphone, presenting an interactive mobile guide to the world`s largest trade fair on electronic self-service and innovative retail solutions. junaior is the first augmented reality platform to overcome the accuracy limitations of GPS navigation, offering pinpoint indoor navigation services. Point, click and view information on individual exhibits or find directions to interesting events and locations. Available for iPhone and Android.
"We see it as our mission", says Peter Meier, metaio`s CTO, "to delight mobile users with easy access to information on things around them, presented in ways to provide an instant grasp of essentials through unusual and enjoyable new media experiences. This requires our technology to be available also at indoor events and locations."
Unfortunately GPS navigation is plagued by inaccuracies and indoor navigation has until recently not been possible at all. junaior is now the first augmented reality browser to overcome these problems. By combining GPS and compass-based geo-information with the so called LLA-marker-technology (latitude, longitude, altitude marker, patent pending), users can experience augmented reality even inside buildings. This is ideal for trade fairs, such as KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2010, shopping malls or museums. junaior helps users to find their way around the facility and to benefit from useful information displayed directly onto the smartphone by pointing its camera at a marker next to an exhibit or product. This could be informative text, images, video, 3D models or view enhancing augmented reality overlays directly onto the object viewed.
"Interactivity, whether at a kiosk or through digital signage, is expanding with the emerging trend of augmentation with mobile devices," explains Jens Schindler, Managing Director of the Kiosk Europe Expo organizer, hf media & events. "We are very pleased to be exploring this trend on the exhibition floor, in the Futures Parlour and in accompanying dedicated Workshops. Visitors to EUROPE EXPO 2010 and DIGITAL EXPO 2010 were for the first time able to explore the events on a mobile application linked to onsite digital signage with mobile tags, courtesy of augmented reality specialist metaio."
junaior is the first augmented reality browser offering this cutting-edge technology. junaior 2.0 makes it possible to bring augmented reality to places like exhibitions, trade fairs, shopping malls, airports or rail stations without being limited by the inaccuracy of GPS-technology.
