Another edition of the Spatial Media GISuser Today newsletter released today with the latest in GIS and Geo tech...
Welcome once again to another Geo Tech industry update. I spent a couple of hours this morning listening to Steven-Myhill Jones, President of Latitude Geographics (Victoria, BC, Canada) as he delivered a live keynote presentation for the GeoCortex user conference (see Twitter @geocortex). An interesting event which Steven and team (FYI, Latitude is now 53 people strong and growing) decided recently to deliver totally virtually to their customers and partners using Adobe's live web meeting technology. Kudos to them for going to great lengths to accomodate the requests of their clients, many of whom had tight budget or travel restrictions that would have prevented them from taking in the usual user conference on location in Victoria - an impressive response to customer needs! FYI, Latitude Geographics is the 2010 esri Canada Partner of the year and is an esri Platinum Partner (a designation given to just 1% of the top partners around the Globe).
Speaking of events, just finalized and announced this week, a WhereCamp event will take place in San Diego following this year's esri user conference - enter WhereCampSoCal. WhereCamp is a popular un-conference format that attracts GIS professionals, developers, neo-geographers, technologists, and GeoGeeks from all corners of the country - last year a popular WhereCamp was held in Denver,Colorado - see WhereCamp5280. WhereCamp (like other BarCamps) is built on the ideas originally put forth by FooCamp, except that attendance is open to anyone. It is an un-conference where the attendees drive the content of the sessions the day of instead of having a prescribed schedule and set of content See More HERE or follow Twitter hashtag #wherecampsocal
