Red Hat Announces "Open Your World," an Online Forum to Discuss Open Source Principles and Best Practices Beyond the Technology Industry  - Forum to Explore Open Source Ideals of Participation and Collaboration Within Business, Education, Government, Law and Life

Raleigh, NC - May 4, 2010 - Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, sponsors "Open Your World," an online virtual forum highlighting the open source ideals of participation, collaboration, community, transparency and meritocracy as they are applied beyond the technology industry. "Open Your World" will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 and will be accessible via webcast. The forum is presented by opensource.com, a website launched by Red Hat in January 2010 as a place to explore and share what happens when the open source way is applied to the world at large.

Red Hat has harnessed open source for developing technology and built a successful business model around open source and its principles of collaboration, transparency and participation. These same open source principles are playing an increasingly larger role beyond technology in areas from healthcare to government to education and numerous others. "Open Your World," hosted by Michael Tiemann, vice president, Open Source Affairs at Red Hat, will showcase the use of open source ideals to innovate and improve society.

"Open Your World" will serve as the first in a series of online forums presented by opensource.com. The forum will include presentations from visionaries across a variety of industries including Dr. John Halamka, CIO of Harvard Medical School; Open Source for America; Free Software Foundation Europe and Wikimedia Foundation, among others. The next forum is anticipated for Fall 2010 and will include an open call for papers.

"Open source is Red Hat's primary mission and we've worked together with users and customers worldwide to offer stable, secure and robust open source solutions," said Tiemann. "Those same open source principles that have led to Red Hat's success within technology can also provide a compelling framework across society in business, education, government, law and life. The "Open Your World" forum will highlight the innovative use of open source as a new way to solve old problems."
