Bay Saint Louis, Miss. - The NVision Solutions Inc. Quality Management System recently achieved third--party certification to the AS9100 Quality Management System Standard for the aerospace industry.
In addition to AS9100, NVision's quality system simultaneously received certification for the ISO 9001:2008 standard. These certifications are internationally recognized, third-party verification that NVision has a quality management framework to monitor and improve quality of products and services. Both of these standards reflect NVision's commitment to the highest quality geospatial and IT products and services.
NVision became the 13th company in Mississippi to achieve the AS9100 certification and one of approximately 4,200 organizations to achieve this certification in the U.S., according to the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) OASIS database which registers all AS9100 companies. NVision's role as a NASA technology supplier and a subcontractor and partner with the world's largest aerospace corporations drove the company to go beyond the more common ISO 9001:2008 quality certification to achieve the additional quality requirements of AS9100.
"The AS9100 certification is an important milestone for our company," said NVision President Socorro Harvey, "We are committed to the highest level of service and quality for our customers and most importantly we are dedicated to continual improvement. This verification will help NVision improve service and be competitive for larger government contracts."
NSF International, an ANAB-accredited certification body for quality systems, audited NVision's corporate, software, and geospatial processes over a 4-day period before recommending the certifications. The majority of the audit focused on NVision's internal web-based Quality Management System (QMS) and Project Management Information System (PMIS) built to best practices outlined by the Project Management Institute (PMI). NVision's team of PMI-certified Project Management Professionals (PMP) created the PMIS which is now available commercially from NVision's website and through select business partners. NVision will also soon release the QMS as a commercial product with Oxebridge Quality Resources International, which provides fast, efficient, cost-effective ISO 9001, AS9100 and related management system implementation programs.
NVision achieved these certifications as part of the U.S. Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé program. The National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) assisted NVision over the last two and a half years to increase the company's ability to serve NGA and other DoD agencies. These certifications are the latest accomplishment of CSC and NVision under this program.
NVision now plans to achieve the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level II certification this year. CMMI further builds on the ISO standards to improve processes within software engineering.
