LAKEWOOD, Colo., 8 February 2010 - WhiteStar Corp., a supplier of cartographic data products and services to the oil and gas industry, will demonstrate the new WhiteStar Streaming ImageryT service along with the recently re-branded line of WhiteStar Exploration CubeT map products next week at the ESRI Petroleum Users Group (PUG) Conference.
This year's ESRI PUG Conference will be held February 22-24 in Houston at the Houston Marriott Westchase. Visit WhiteStar in booth #510.
WhiteStar will officially unveil WhiteStar Streaming Imagery, the latest offering in the company's popular line of oil & gas mapping products. WhiteStar Streaming Imagery enables customers to leverage Web Mapping Service (WMS) technology so they can view and stream high-resolution imagery directly into their digital mapping projects related to hydrocarbon exploration and production activities.
"The WMS-compatible streaming format eliminates the cost associated with maintaining raster imagery databases as well as the time-consuming process of importing, balancing and mosaicking large image files," said Robert White, WhiteStar president and CEO. "Imagery can be accessed in any WMS-compatible mapping software including ESRI ArcMap and ArcView, Halliburton GeoGraphix and IHS Petra."
WhiteStar Streaming Imagery puts more than 30 terabytes of 0.5-1.0 meter aerial photography on the end user's desktop along with a nationwide road network and topographic contours. Imagery can be re-projected on the fly and used as a base layer for the end user's proprietary GeoTIFF data as well as other WhiteStar map layers.
Also at PUG, WhiteStar will be demonstrating its complete WhiteStar Exploration Cube line of cartographic products and services developed to facilitate oil and gas operations. The WhiteStar product line has been re-branded with new names in 2010. Each of the following products is regularly updated with new data layers and capabilities.
WhiteStar GridT, formerly Unlimited Grid Access, is a seamless digital mosaic of land survey and fitted state and county boundaries covering all public land survey states, Texas, and Offshore State and Federal Waters in the Gulf of Mexico.
WhiteStar CultureT, formerly Unlimited Basemap Access, is a seamless nationwide digital mosaic containing 42 layers of cultural feature layers from U.S. Census Bureau TIGER Files.
WhiteStar WellsT, formerly Unlimited Well Access, contains well header information for oil and gas wells in the U.S., including Alaska, state and federal waters, and the Gulf of Mexico.
WhiteStar WellBuilderT, formerly Legal2Map Points, is a web service that enables users to convert a well's public land survey legal description into a precise geographic coordinate.
WhiteStar LeaseBuilderT, formerly Legal2Map Polygons, is a web-based application that allows a user to easily calculate the geographic points representing a land polygon by entering the legal land description of a region or property within the U.S. Public Land Survey System.
WhiteStar ConsultingT, formerly Custom Mapping and Consulting, provides custom maps for oil and gas clients.
