SAIC Awarded GSA Geospatial Information System SmartBUY Blanket Purchase Agreement
Company to Provide Geospatial Software Products Government-wideMCLEAN, Va. and SAN DIEGO, Dec 17, 2009 - Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced that it has been awarded a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) under the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) SmartBUY program to provide Geospatial Information System (GIS) products and services to federal, state and local government agencies. The single-award BPA, which shall not exceed five years, has a ceiling value of $20 million for SAIC. This BPA was awarded under SAIC's Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) Information Technology Schedule (70) Contract.
The GSA SmartBUY program is a federal government procurement vehicle that is designed to promote effective enterprise-level software management. It leverages the government's buying power to potentially save taxpayers millions of dollars through reduced prices and more favorable terms and conditions for commercial off the shelf software products. Use of the SmartBUY program also assists agencies in achieving greater standardization, improved configuration management, and more robust IT security. Under the BPA, SAIC will provide GIS services and products, including the company's licensed GeoRover(R) software product line, as required to enable federal, state and local government entities to produce maps and conduct geographic analysis. GeoRover products are a suite of geospatial software extensions developed to work with the popular ESRI(R) ArcGIS(R) Desktop software.
"SAIC continues to develop and deliver mission-oriented geospatial system solutions throughout the federal, state and local government," said Tony Moraco, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "Under this BPA, we look forward to expanding our GIS software product offerings government-wide through an enterprise licensing model that enables access to geospatial data, technology, and products for agency-wide acquisitions."
