Come October 2010, the GSDI 12 World Conference will be held in Singapore.
This Conference is jointly organised by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) together with GSDI Association, and the Permanent Committee on GIS Infrastructure for Asia and the Pacific (PCGIAP).
The GSDI 12 World Conference will include an interesting range of geospatial events in addition to the 12th GSDI Conference and the 16th PCGIAP Annual Meeting. Since this conference will be held in conjunction with such an array of important meetings, we expect to attract more than 800 delegates and exhibitors from all over the world!
From 19th to 22nd October, delegates at GSDI 12 World Conference will have many opportunities to meet and exchange views about implementing and developing spatial data infrastructure concepts and practice. Delegates can also discover what developments have been made in this field from the world's thought leaders and experts in Spatial Data Infrastructure and Geospatial science
With our noteworthy selection of keynote speakers and plenary speakers, this conference promises to be an opportunity for industry networking and a stimulating intellectual exchange for every geospatial field during this key conference.
The theme of GSDI 12 World Conference is "Realising Spatially Enabled Societies". The theme reflects the vast potential for geospatial and location data to augment information, processes and decision making for individuals and society, and the work that remains to be done to encourage creativity and product development for society to truly attain spatial enablement. GSDI 12 will allow delegates to gain deeper insight into the progress that societies around the world have made in their SDI journey towards spatially enabled societies.
This conference is also an opportunity for Singapore to boost Singapore`s efforts to develop our own national spatial data infrastructure, SG-SPACE.
SG-SPACE was launched in April 2008 and is a national initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Law, Singapore Land Authority, Ministry of Information and the Arts and the Infocomm Development Authority. Beyond data-sharing, SG-SPACE aims to create a sustainable environment where data is interoperable, accessible and usable, and provide a standardized infrastructure that allows a diverse community to create access to and share geospatial data for enhanced decision making and reduced administrative costs.
We hope that participants will be enriched through our sharing on SG-SPACE, even as we expect the exchange of knowledge with other SDI representatives to raise the capacity of Singapore's geospatial industry.
With such a diverse range of activities and opportunities, GSDI 12 is an event certainly not to be missed - Expect to be impressed with our lineup of keynote and plenary speakers, and be ready for fun and excitement when the sun sets, because it will be time to enjoy and learn more about the culture, cuisine and arts of this cosmopolitan gem of Asia - Singapore.
Online early-bird registration will open from March 2010. So, please visit the GSDI12 website early to avoid disappointment!
