Toronto, ON, November 24, 2009 - Avenza Systems Inc., producers of MAPublisher cartographic software for Adobe Illustrator and Geographic Imager® spatial tools for Adobe Photoshop® is pleased to announce that the latest release of MAPublisher, version 8.2, supports the direct import of GIS data to Adobe Illustrator from ESRI geodatabases.
The MAPublisher 8.2 spatial database importer supports direct import of GIS data from ESRI Personal Geodatabases (.mdb), ESRI File Geodatabases (.gdb), and ESRI ArcSDE servers and supports the following feature types: point, line, polygon, Bezier curve and annotations (text). The MAPublisher Spatial Database importer also allows for SQL queries and spatial filters to be executed upon import. Spatial database import functionality is available for Windows only as an optional add-on to MAPublisher 8.2. Some spatial database importers require the presence of a valid ArcGIS license.
"Direct data import from spatial databases has long been wished for by MAPublisher users and we are very excited and proud to introduce this functionality as an optional add-on with MAPublisher 8.2,” said Ted Florence, President of Avenza, “We know that both enterprise users who store their data in larger ESRI ArcSDE geodatabases and individuals working with personal and file geodatabases will find this powerful new importer to be a great leap forward in MAPublisher’s evolution.” he added.
The MAPublisher spatial database importer offers the following advanced import functions in addition to all standard functionality found in MAPublisher 8.2 for Windows:
Direct import from ESRI Personal Geodatabase (requires ArcGIS license)
Direct import from ESRI File Geodatabase (requires ArcGIS license)
Direct import from ArcSDE servers (requires ArcGIS or ArcReader license)
Support for point, line, polygon and Bezier curve geometries
Support for Annotations
SQL attribute query support executed on import to enable import of specific features only
Spatial filter executed on data import to enable selective importation based on defined data extents
Support for subtypes and domains during import
The MAPublisher spatial database importer for Illustrator is available as an add-on option for MAPublisher 8.2, for Windows only, for US$599. MAPublisher users with active MAPublisher maintenance may purchase the MAPublisher spatial database importer for only US$349.
