The United States Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) is using ESRI geographic information system (GIS) technology to report American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) spending at arra-gis.dot.gov.
The online map provides information about dollars obligated and projects pending in states and territories at the county and congressional district levels.
Once a geographic region is selected, visitors can easily access project details including federal funding amount and description. The application also allows searches according to U.S. DOT agencies: aviation, transit, maritime, highways, and rail.
U.S. DOT has long used ESRI technology to visualize and analyze mission-critical information and support decision making.
