New online tool makes location analysis easier for active capital investment prospects
COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 23 -- The state of Ohio has launched OhioInSite.com, the state's official new online tool used to attract new capital investment and site selection opportunities. OhioInSite.com uses Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, which allows users to quickly and easily identify the optimal location, down to a specific property, for any capital investment project in Ohio.
According to the Ohio Business Development Coalition, the nonprofit organization that markets the state for capital investment, OhioInSite.com is a customer service improvement that will increase the state's competitiveness in a 21st century global economy by providing investment prospects with the critical information needed to analyze potential locations in one website.
OhioInSite.com allows users to search for Ohio properties and companies, while leveraging a GIS interface and interactive mapping platform that supplies specific data on the surrounding location.
"OhioInSite.com will speed up and simplify the business attraction and the site selection processes for businesses and consultants by efficiently delivering answers to the critical location decision questions through a map-based and dynamic interface," said Mark Barbash, interim director of the Ohio Department of Development. "By giving prospects the critical data needed to analyze potential capital investment locations all in one website, OhioInSite.com will generate more investment leads, and ultimately, more business development opportunities for Ohio."
The state's attractive business environment is just one of many reasons CEOs are choosing the buckeye state as a location for capital investment more often than any other state in the country. Ohio was recently awarded its third consecutive Governor's Cup Award for leading the nation in new and expanded facilities and overall achievements in economic investments in 2008.
"The state's three consecutive Governor's Cup awards, along with the state's recent tax reform, are evidence that our economic development strategies for creating a healthy business development climate are working," said Ed Burghard, executive director of the Ohio Business Development Coalition. "OhioInSite.com, will ensure that Ohio is on every CEO's list of location options," Burghard said.
"Ohio's redesigned business climate and world-class transportation infrastructure allows businesses in any industry to be globally successful without executives and employees having to sacrifice their families or personal dreams," Burghard said. "Ohio truly is the state of Perfect Balance."
