iGuide, www.iguide.travel, is a recently introduced travel site which combines mapping and geographic data with much of the best travel information from across the web.
iGuide, the interactive travel guide, is built around a full-screen interactive map which boasts about 7 million world places. The map interface can be used to access travel guides, photos, videos, and hotel and flight information.
The homepage of the site is a world map with icons of destinations that have travel information. Users can click on an icon to access information on a city or place, or zoom in on a country to reveal even more destinations. Zooming in further on the map reveals even more places, out of an impressive 7 million available world locations.
Once users have arrived at a destination, iGuide offers many categories of information to search through such as guides, photos, hotels, flights, videos, and location-related web links. Travelers can browse through the photo gallery or travel guide articles to get a better idea of locations, or immerse themselves in the interactive map.
According to site founder Alex Cybriwsky, the goal of the site is to "fill the gap" between mapping and travel guides, as well to make mapping easier to use for the average traveler.
iGuide provides users with much of the information needed to be informed and inspired for their next vacation using an interactive mapping interface. Whether users have a specific destination in mind or are interested in discovering a new place, iGuide, www.iguide.travel, can help them explore the world using mapping.
