AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS -- 03/10/09 -- In Real Life (IRL), the only visual social networking company that adds presence to social networks and social media, announced today that it has integrated with Facebook and Twitter to allow users to bring their friends into IRL Connect (www.irlconnect.com), update their status on all platforms and see where all of their friends are located on Google(TM) Maps.
This marks the first time users can see friends from multiple social networks in a visual way, giving them a sense of presence that humanizes digital connections and leads to more meaningful relationships.
"IRL takes the features of social networking that allow users to communicate and connect and makes the user's location the most important part of the information they broadcast," said Frank Schuil, CEO of IRL. "Instead of just browsing through profiles and status updates, IRL Connect brings Facebook and Twitter into its visual social network that is no longer just about what friends are doing and saying, but where they are located."
In addition to the new Facebook and Twitter integration, IRL Connect provides a bridge between mobile and the Web through a partnership with mobile social network GeoMe. The company has also introduced an enhanced look and functionality with a new interactive user interface that features a continuous stream of events to see who has been there and what they are doing. The viewing area lets users visualize everything from the event stream, make quick map jumps by clicking on a friend's name and discover new connections with a people search.
IRL Connect is currently in private beta and plans to launch publicly in April 2009. Interested journalists and analysts may experience IRL Connect's new Facebook and Twitter integration with invite key: Press. Visit www.irlconnect.com to sign up.
