Just a reminder to you corporate comms people and marketing types… you may not be interested in Twitter and it may not be part of your marketing plan, however, you better go grab your twitter username… if its even still available!
Twitter has invaded many industries and technologies and GIS / Geospatial is no different. Many GIS professionals, reps from GIS software companies, GIS PR people, tech support, GIS bloggers and GIS media and publishing are very active on Twitter - yours truly was an early adopted and has been active on Twitter and other social communities for some time now (I feel like an "old timer").
Just today a marketing exec from a LARGE company asked me if I had any idea who may be the holder of a twitter account that uses their company name… OOPS! Looks like they snoozed or someone beat them to the punch! Some companies have been quick, grabbing their twitter “domains” like @esri, @terrago, @erdas but some others likely have missed out, perhaps even being scooped by their own employees or clients… I suggest you grab your Twitter name and sit on it… fast! PS - you can follow our updates via @gletham@gisuser and @lbszone
