Free Arizona GIS data resourcesOur popular State GIS spotlights continue, this time we turn our spotlight onto Arizona and share GIS data tips where you can locate and download data, lots of it! Browse this resource to access portals and clearinghouse repositories where you can freely download DRG, DEM, DOQs, aerial photography and ortho photos, PLS data, census data products, riparian data, parcels and ownership data and much more. The focal point of this feature is the fabulous State Image Archive Service where you'll find TONS of data

Your First Stop! For a true Arizona data score though, see the U Arizona Image archive. Users have access to download DRGs, DOQs, DEM data, Satellite imagery and more! http://aria.arizona.edu/

This fine resource from the University of Arizona is an interdisciplinary resource system for digital image and map data for the Sonoran desert region, including the U.S. Southwest and northern Mexico. Users will find instructional and outreach activities in remote sensing and spatial analysis on integrated regional assessments as well as a wealth of data (DRG, DEM, DOQQs) for use in their GIS. In addition to countless research material and educational resources, users will find they are provided with access to plenty of data. Simply click on the "Images" link and you'll find more links leading to 24k, 100k, and 250k DRG, DEM, and imagery. Check it out at http://aria.arizona.edu/

A starting point for your data search is the Arizona Geographic Information Council (AGIC) website http://agic.az.gov/portal/main.do. User registration is required in order to access and dwonload the data where there are currently some 86 downloadable data layers available. The Portal is designed to provide GIS users with links to Internet map services, FGDC compliant metadata, and geospatial data downloads. Downloadable datasets including riparian areas, census data, land ownership, grants, and other map products.

ALRIS, the Arizona State Land Department provides a section wheree visitors can browse metadata and then request data products (free), although there is a fee for commercial users. This resource is also home to the Arizona State Land Parcel Viewer - http://www.land.state.az.us/alris/transfers/parcels/help/welcome.htm
Numerous data layers are provided including:
Ownership parcels
Census data
township and range data
NEW - NAIP 2007 Orthoimagery
much more
See http://www.land.state.az.us/alris/layers.html

For a real data score though you need to visit the Arizona State Cartographer's Office (SCO). The Portal is designed to provide GIS users with links to Internet map services, FGDC compliant metadata, and geospatial data downloads. Currently there are more than 85 downloadable datasets including riparian areas, census data, land ownership, grants, and other map products.
Need imagery, see this State Image server http://sco.az.gov/imagery.htm and they also maintain this webmapping service (GeoServer)
