Marathon Data Systems joins ITT’s growing, global distribution channel.
Boulder, CO – August 28, 2008 – ITT Visual Information Solutions (ITT VIS), a wholly owned subsidiary of ITT Corporation, (NYSE: ITT), today announced that it has signed Marathon Data Systems as a distributor of ENVI software in Greece and Cyprus. Under this authorized distribution agreement, Marathon Data Systems will distribute the ENVI family of image processing and analysis products to the growing number of professionals in the region who rely on geospatial imagery and the information it provides for planning, decision-making, research, and science.
Marathon Data Systems has been working with geographical information systems (GIS) for over twenty years. The company was the first to propose the use of GIS technology in Greece and Cyprus, and they are the official distributor of the ESRI® line of GIS software – ArcGIS® – in Greece and Cyprus.
“We are excited about our new relationship with ITT and the software solutions we can now pass along to our customers. ENVI’s workflow-based analysis and processing tools provide the ideal platform for our customers to extract information from imagery quickly, accurately and easily,” said Adonis Kontos, president of Marathon Data Systems. “In addition, ENVI’s integration into ArcGIS provides a seamless data exchange for the maintenance and update of GIS layers with extracted vectors from imagery.”
“The GIS community in Greece and Cyprus uses imagery derived geographic information more than ever, as it provides them with critical and timely information to keep their geographic information systems databases up to date. Entering into this strategic partnership agreement with Marathon Data Systems allows us to support the GIS professionals in that community by providing the advanced image processing capabilities they need in conjunction with the undisputed GIS leader in Marathon Data Systems,” stated Richard Cooke, President and COO of ITT Visual Information Solutions.
