Intermap Technologies and Global Mapper Expand Partnership to Offer High-Resolution Digital Elevation Data via Software Interface
New Interface Enables Customers to Ingest Digital Mapping Data Directly into Enhanced Software Application
DENVER-- Intermap Technologies™ today announced they have expanded their relationship with Global Mapper Software, LLC, a producer of geographic information system (GIS) software. Global Mapper will now offer Intermap’s high-resolution digital elevation models, orthorectified radar images, contour line maps, and optimized triangulated irregular network (TIN) models to its users worldwide.
Global Mapper’s software has been augmented to easily ingest Intermap’s base data products from within the application itself, creating a streamlined workflow for commercial and government GIS professionals. Global Mapper’s GIS application has built-in functionality for distance and area calculations, raster blending, feathering, spectral analysis and contrast adjustment, elevation querying, line-of-sight calculations, and cut-and-fill volume calculations. Advanced capabilities include image rectification, contour generation and view shed analysis from surface data, terrain layer comparison (including differencing), and triangulation and gridding of 3D point data. Repetitive tasks can be accomplished using the built-in scripting language or comprehensive batch conversion functionality.
According to Mike Childs, CEO for Global Mapper Software LLC, "Our ability to help customers solve complex problems will no doubt be enhanced by the availability of Intermap data through our software interface. Such high quality and affordable data will allow customers to arrive at more accurate solutions with significant savings in both time and money. Our partnership with Intermap allows us to expand our broad suite of data products to offer extremely reliable wide-area elevation data at an affordable price."
Commercial market applications for Global Mapper software include scientific investigations, resource management, asset management, environmental impact assessment, urban planning, cartography, criminology, geographic history, marketing, and logistics within the environmental, forestry/agriculture, mining/oil/gas, telecommunications, and consumer-based industries. Intermap’s highly accurate and uniform 3D digital elevation models, collected as part of their NEXTMap® countrywide mapping program, are effectively enabling these types of applications worldwide.
“Our longstanding relationship as a Global Mapper software distributor has provided great value to our customers,” stated Kevin Thomas, Intermap’s vice president of marketing. "The expansion of this relationship will further benefit Global Mapper customers by enabling the easy access and download of high-resolution digital terrain and digital surface models, orthorectified radar imagery, and contours for the U.S. and Western Europe.”
