LizardTech Rolls Out GeoExpress Remote Edition at the 2008 ESRI International User Conference  E-mail

Edition Offers New Licensing Option for Remotely Connected Users

SEATTLE, Wash. - August 5, 2008 - LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc. and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing digital content, announced the release of GeoExpress Remote Edition at the 2008 ESRI International User Conference in San Diego where LizardTech is exhibiting in booth number 401. This edition offers a new licensing option, better integration with LizardTech Express Server and improved JPEG 2000 compatibility.

GeoExpress Remote Edition, a new licensing option for GeoExpress, provides unlimited MrSID and JPEG 2000 encoding and manipulation in a Terminal Services or Citrix environment. Now users can install GeoExpress on a central server and log in remotely to run GeoExpress. This is of great benefit since imagery can now be stored in a central repository so remote users no longer have to copy large images to their location. Now, multiple users can run GeoExpress concurrently, and perform intensive image processing jobs such as compression, reprojection, or color balancing on the server to free up their local machine for other work.

This edition also offers better integration with LizardTech Express Server. GeoExpress now allows users to upload larger datasets to Express Server than before for use in WMS applications, streaming via JPIP, or viewing on the web.

Improved JPEG 2000 compatibility is another new benefit. With better support for both JPEG 2000 Part I and JPEG 2000 Part II files, it is easy for users to use their imagery everywhere.

"We continually strive to create products that will add value to our customers' imagery assets and with GeoExpress Remote Edition we did just that," said Jon Skiffington, LizardTech senior product manager. "This functionality has been commonly requested by our users, so we're sure they'll see immediate benefits in their workflow and productivity by leveraging the new licensing option, better integration with Express Server and improved JPEG 2000 compatibility."
