Davenport Group and ESRI Launch System Architecture Assessment for Determining Enterprise GIS Implementation Needs - The assessment, developed to create seamless collaboration between GIS professionals and IT during enterprise GIS implementation, will be showcased at the ESRI user conference
St. Paul, Minn. (July 29, 2008) – Davenport Group, an ESRI partner focused on IT integration, and ESRI announce the launch of a system architecture assessment to help GIS users determine their organization’s IT needs for effective enterprise GIS deployment. The no fee, no obligation assessment helps GIS users and IT departments ensure a smooth rollout of ESRI’s ArcGIS software by identifying any network, storage or data backup challenges in their current IT infrastructures. Davenport Group representatives will be located at Booth 215 during the ESRI International User Conference to provide information about the assessment and answer questions.
“Converting to ArcGIS can impact an IT infrastructure because of the bandwidth required for its complex capabilities,” said Paul Clifford, president of Davenport Group. “The assessment helps promote collaboration and communication between GIS users and IT so they address restructuring needs before enterprise rollout.”
Eliminating infrastructure problems before deploying the application prevents performance issues and creates a better experience for end-users. “The assessment is a great resource for users who are thinking about an enterprise rollout of GIS,” said Dale Loberger, ESRI business development manager. “It helps ensure that productivity isn’t interrupted by internal technology issues.”
The assessment begins by filling out a downloadable survey, available via davenportgroup.com. ESRI helped develop the survey component of the assessment process.
“The survey helped me assess the current condition of our infrastructure design and policy, and better understand the steps needed to implement enterprise GIS,” said Pam Carver, Land Records Supervisor, Henderson County, N.C. After completion of the survey and a full analysis, Davenport Group will provide an infrastructure assessment outlining solutions and product options tailored to the specific technology needs of the organization.
