Combination of Data Collection Techniques Will Increase Reliability and Coverage
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Jul 28, 2008 -- Quova, Inc., the leading provider of Internet geolocation data services, today announced it has acquired Verifia(TM) Inc., a geolocating software technology company and provider of NetGeo, an IP-based Internet intelligence solution. The move further extends Quova's leadership position in the Internet geolocation market.
Quova will integrate NetGeo's analysis and data collection techniques into its world class Global Data Collection Network. This will mean increased granularity of the Quova data by providing additional data fields, such as cyber cafe locations and end-organization domain name. Quova customers use this information to detect card-not-present fraud, comply with local regulations, and localize online ads and content.
"Verifia took extra care to maintain the highest standards in data quality," said former Verifia president and CEO, Sunny Kim. "Quova's approach shared many synergies with NetGeo so it was natural for the evolution of the company to combine technologies and join the market leader."
"With each of our acquisitions we have found subtle differences in the data collection and processing techniques that we have been able to easily integrate into our machine learning platform," said Marie Alexander, CEO of Quova. "While the technology integration improves the resulting dataset, the real return comes from the learning process between the brain trusts of the various companies. When I found that Sunny and his team were ready to join forces, I was delighted." Verifia's customers, including American Express, Boots, and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, will become Quova customers. Quova has retained all Verifia employees. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
