Wednesday, 23 July 2008
Redlands, California—ESRI will offer a complimentary Web seminar this month on how to use the new ArcGIS JavaScript APIs to build high-performance, easy-to-use online mapping applications.
The live training seminar Building Mashups Using the ArcGIS JavaScript APIs will air on ESRI's Training and Education Web site at www.esri.com/lts on July 31, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m. (Pacific daylight time).
In Internet mapping, a mashup merges content from multiple online services into one map that is then served in a Web mapping application. The browser-based JavaScript API and two extensions, introduced for the first time with the upcoming release of ArcGIS Server 9.3 software, will make embedding maps and tasks in Web pages simple for developers. The seminar will demonstrate how to build mashup applications using the ArcGIS JavaScript APIs by walking through online samples in the software development kit (SDK.)
The presenter will discuss
The concept of a mashup The ArcGIS JavaScript API The ArcGIS JavaScript API extensions: The ArcGIS JavaScript Extension for Microsoft Virtual Earth and the ArcGIS JavaScript Extension for the Google Maps API This seminar is geared toward Web application developers who want to create mashups using the ArcGIS JavaScript APIs. Attendees do not need to be highly experienced programmers. Only a basic understanding of HTML and some familiarity with JavaScript are expected.
A broadband Internet connection and an ESRI Global Account are needed to watch the seminar. Creating a global account is easy and free; visit www.esri.com/lts, click Login, and register your name and address. A few weeks after the live presentation, the seminar will be archived and available for viewing on the ESRI Training and Education Web site.
