Leading Analyst Firm Highlights Company in Latest Report on Web Fraud Detection
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(July 21, 2008) - Quova, Inc., the leading provider of Internet geolocation data services, today announced that Gartner, Inc. has referenced Quova's role in IP geolocation, one of the key technologies in addressing Web fraud detection. Quova also provides their data to most of the other vendors included in the report, as Certified Partners, helping to power their integrated anti-fraud and e-payment solutions.
According to the Gartner report "Fraud Detection and Customer Authentication Market Overview," written by analyst Avivah Litan, today's fraud detection and customer authentication market is characterized by lots of point solutions supported mainly by niche vendors. Enterprises need a multi-channel fraud management strategy to keep up with and stay ahead of the crooks, and must typically piece together multiple vendor solutions. Several vendors supporting Web fraud detection also provide integrated customer authentication, enabling the two modules to more effectively work together.
Quova data allows the location of an online customer to be identified, allowing greater enhancement of anti-fraud measures. With IP geolocation, identity discrepancies between IP addresses and billing address can be flagged as an indication of identity theft. Additionally, Quova is the only provider of IP geolocation that details proxy connections, often a sign of potential fraud, and monitors half a billion anonymizing proxies.
"Quova helps build transparency into transactions," said Bill Varga, executive vice president of business development at Quova. "The amount of money that we save our customers makes the use of IP geolocation as a fraud prevention tool a very clear choice."
Quova provides IP geolocation services to more than 300 organizations, including banks, government agencies, e-retailers and online casinos. Quova's partners, also listed in the Gartner report, include Accertify, Arcot, CyberSource, Equifax, Guardian Analytics, Oracle, and RSA. Three of the top four search engines use Quova data and services, powering 95% of all search-advertising results.
