Another LBSZone Alert has been released... enjoy this edition for the latest developments in Location-based services.
Today you'll notice a slightly different focus that lately as we pay more attention to mobile mapping, field GIS solutions, and enterprise geo-technology. In our spotlight we're very pleased to share a product review that looks at a "wow" technology you may have seen demo'd in your recent travels... the digital pen. This exciting Digital Pen Technology from Adaptx and Capturx for ArcGIS, bridging the gap between digital and tangible. The Adapx digital pen is both Bluetooth-enabled and a USB device. The pen weighs just over an ounce and is about the size of an average ballpoint pen. Communication is either USB 1.1 standard, USB 2.0 standard, or Bluetooth 1.2 standard and makes field data capture a breeze. I'm looking forward to getting a hands-on once again at this year's ESRI user conference in San Diego next month... more to come on that. In the news today we share details about an event from Nokia focused on the open source mobile developer. We also share details of how ViewRanger has expanded with European Map Coverage, delivering Topographic Maps Over Mobile Network - ideal for the frequent outdoors sport participant or outdoor enthusiast. Finally, we're also pleased to share details of how TruePosition was recently Awarded Patents that Facilitate Location-Based Safety and Security Services for GSM, CDMA and UMTS - recall, the Location Platform that is designed to enable mobile wireless service providers to determine the location of mobile phones and wireless devices. I'm sure you'll find much more of interest if you take a couple of minutes to browse the contents below. Have a great week-end all, until next Wednesday!
