New Content to Transform GPS for Off-Road and Recreational Enthusiasts by Offering Enhanced Maps, More Layers than Any Other Data Set On the Market
Santa Clara, Calif. and DENVER (July 14, 2008) — Magellan, one of the fastest growing GPS brands, and Intermap Technologies™, a leading provider of digital maps, today announced the first commercial availability of AccuTerra™ maps for Magellan Triton and eXplorist® handheld GPS, providing outdoor enthusiasts with advanced topographic maps and off-road points of interest. “We are pleased that Magellan has chosen to complement its product lines with the nation’s best recreational map content for GPS devices,” said Eric DesRoche, senior vice president of automotive and consumer electronics for Intermap. “The augmentation of Magellan’s leading handheld GPS products with our AccuTerra GPS maps enhances the user’s experience and expands the possibilities afforded to recreational enthusiasts who use GPS devices to master the great outdoors.” Magellan customers now have access to digital terrain data, off-road and recreation-related roads, trails, and points-of-interest such as campgrounds, service facilities, and landmarks.
