Cooperative is seeking vendors to provide software for GIS Facilities Management, Design/Staking and Vegetation Management
Atlanta GA, July 3, 2008 – OneGIS is pleased to announce that it has been enlisted by Great Lakes Energy (GLE) to perform a needs assessment, write a Request for Proposal (RFP) and assist in the bid process for procuring an enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS). The Request for Proposal has been sent to a list of GIS and application vendors and has been posted on the company’s website.
The intent of the request for proposal is to secure an Enterprise Geographical Information System (EGIS) that addresses the company’s requirements for an integrated, standards-based and open system for Great Lakes Energy (GLE) to replace an outdated electronic mapping system and various stand-alone databases. GLE has identified three GIS applications that will serve as the essential building blocks for the new system and provide a basis for its return on investment. These applications are: GIS Facilities Management; Field Design/Staking and Vegetation Management. In addition to the Enterprise GIS, the company is seeking implementation, integration, data conversion and training services in conjunction with the software being proposed.
The new Geographic Information System will assist GLE in managing its electric distribution system, the vegetation that encroaches upon it and the work orders that provide for maintenance and expansion of the network.
Links to both a Word and pdf version of the RFP can be found at the bottom of this page: http://www.gtlakes.com/purchasinginfo.aspx. Interested vendors that have electric-specific GIS software that can meet one or more of the applications identified in the RFP, which were not emailed a copy, must contact Bud Porter, GIS Consultant for GLE to get on the vendor list. He can be reached at

All vendors must be registered with OneGIS prior to that date to receive a conference call invitation and must participate in the call in order to be eligible to submit a proposal. Proposals are due by 3:00PM EDT August 15, 2008.
