Snowflake Software releases a performance video on GML loading.
Proving the capabilities of a high performing, scalable and reliable software tool can be difficult on paper. Seeing the tool in action, however, is an entirely different experience. Visitors to Snowflake Software’s website can now view a hands-on video demonstrating the capabilities of GO Loader and just how easily, quickly and reliably it can load GML 2 and GML 3 datasets.
The video, prepared initially with Ordnance Survey’s large scale data, OS MasterMap®, guides the viewer through the process of loading 134,387 GML features in just 49 seconds.
GO Loader, Oracle 10g and the GML data were all installed on a Dell™ laptop with just a single dual core Intel® processor running at 2.20 GHz with 2 GB RAM. As the statistics below show, the average load speed for:
OS MasterMap® was 2,731 features/sec or 2,796 Kb/sec
“From the outset, GO Loader was designed for the most performant of applications,” explains Ian Painter, Managing Director of Snowflake Software. “Time and again, our users have benefited not only from the ease of use of the product, but also in the accuracy and speed of its loading capabilities and applying Change Only Update.”

The performance capabilities of GO Loader are not just specific to OS MasterMap. The generic capabilities and enterprise pedigree of GO Loader make it the market leading GML loading tool also proven with:
IMRO2006 (1,153 features/sec or 3,756 Kb/sec)
TOP10NL (2,147 features/sec or 4,512 Kb/sec)
AAA-NAS (2,420 features/sec or 8,389 Kb/sec)
Snowflake has also been actively working with other GML/XML schemas/applications such as GeoSciML, CityGML, IMBOD, IMKICH, IMRO2008, IMGeo, IMWA and IMWE.
