Earthmine Names Paul smith as Chief Strategy Officer
Berkeley, CA – May 12, 2008 – earthmine, Inc. today announced Paul Smith, an industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in GIS, remote sensing, and location-based data products, has joined their executive management team as Chief Strategy Officer. The former DigitalGlobe and GlobeXplorer executive will drive earthmine’s strategic partnership initiatives including technology partnerships and global business alliances, and will be a key member of the executive team guiding the company direction. He will report to Founder and co-CEO John Ristevski.
“Paul brings a wealth of industry-specific experience and insight to the earthmine team. His work at Globe Xplorer and Digital Globe in delivering rich geospatial content and software as a service is invaluable as we move forward to bring a whole new dataset and associated set of tools to the marketplace,” said Ristevski.
Prior to joining earthmine, Paul Smith was a vice president at DigitalGlobe where he drove business growth through the development of key global partnerships and alliances. He joined DigitalGlobe through the acquisition of the company he co-founded, GlobeXplorer. Under his direction as chief operating officer, GlobeXplorer became an early leader in global earth imagery content aggregation now common on the Internet. Prior to GlobeXplorer, Paul was a vice president at HJW Geo-spatial which delivered the first aerial off-the-shelf products to the industry, substantially contributing to the development of the geospatial data industry. Paul is considered an innovator in spatial content licensing and pricing models, is a frequent speaker on location based web services, and has extensive experience working with search portals, leading navigation companies, geographic content providers, international governments, as well as GIS software suppliers.

Smith will join the earthmine team of thirteen in their Berkeley, California offices and will be a part of the executive management team that includes co-founders John Ristevski and Anthony Fassero, and Kris Kelsay, chief marketing officer, who has been with the team since 2006.
