EDINBURGH, UK – 07 May 2008 The Greater London Authority Data Management and Analysis Group (DMAG) selected InstantAtlas from GeoWise, an ESRI Holdings company, to deliver easy to use, highly-interactive atlases of the London Mayor and Assembly Constituency level election results on its website. The election results, released late on Friday 2nd May, are available to view online in map form at http://www.london.gov.uk/gla/elections/mayoral/flash/atlas.html
InstantAtlas provided a quick and easy, off-the-shelf tool for the DMAG to build interactive presentations of the results without using up valuable resources.
"We had challenging timescales to develop the election results reports. We were able to create, customise and brand them in a few days so they were ready and waiting for the results as they came in,” said Alan Lewis, Senior Analyst within DMAG. “Given the delay in the results being announced due to consideration of second preference votes, it was a late night for us on Friday but the London Mayor atlas was live for Saturday morning and we are very pleased with the online maps".
The highly-interactive atlases produced help communicate the election results in a simple and effective form using InstantAtlas, a powerful data visualisation tool that graphically presents location-based statistical data making local and regional data patterns easy to view and analyse.
Janet Worth, Executive Director Corporate Services, Greater London Authority, said: "I think the presentation of the 2008 Mayoral and Assembly election results using these interactive web pages looks fantastic. They really help to communicate the data in an interesting and exciting manner.”
