GITA Announces New Call for Presentations Process for Solutions Conference  E-mail
Written by GITA

Association Relaxes Requirements for the 2009 Event

May 1, 2008: Aurora, Colo — The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) has issued a Call for Presentations with relaxed requirements from previous years for its 2009 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference, slated for April 19-22, at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla.

Individuals who are interested in submitting abstracts are asked to visit http://www.gita.org/gis by the August 4, 2008, deadline and use the easy online submission form to send in a title, three learning objectives, the vertical market segment(s) for which the presentation is most appropriate, a 75-word abstract, and a 200-word abstract.

As part of the relaxed requirements, GITA is no longer requiring speakers to submit full eight-page papers. Accepted speakers for the 2009 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference must a) submit a biography b) submit a two- to four- page executive summary, which will be published in the Conference Proceedings, and c ) submit a computer-generated presentation. Attendee survey results from GITA's 2008 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference, held in Seattle in March, overwhelmingly indicated that published papers are highly valued for their detailed content. Accepted speakers will be encouraged to submit full papers, as they are still highly regarded.

The abstract submission deadline is August 4, 2008. Complete information on the abstract submission process and an online submission form is available at www.gita.org/gis.

The mission of the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is to provide excellence in education, information exchange, and applied research on the use and benefits of geospatial information and technology in business, utility, and government applications worldwide. Visit GITA on the Web at www.gita.org.
