Software Visionary Alan Cooper to Deliver Keynote at 2008 ESRI Developer Summit  E-mail
Written by ESRI
12 March 2008
The "Father of Visual Basic" Will Help Developers "Wake Up and Smell the Software"

Redlands, California—Alan Cooper, a pioneering software inventor, programmer, designer, and theorist, will give the keynote presentation at the 2008 ESRI Developer Summit in Palm Springs, California, on Wednesday, March 19, 8:30 a.m.–10:00 a.m. Cooper will address the stereotypes of managing software development and provide insights for correctly managing the process in today’s development environment.

Cooper helped create the user interface for Visual Basic (now called Visual Studio) and has authored several books on designing great desktop applications including About Face: The Essentials of User Interface Design and The Inmates Are Running the Asylum. Cooper founded a software design firm in 1992 that has helped companies of all sizes create hundreds of successful digital products and services. Cooper’s firm specializes in assisting companies in adopting a better way of researching, developing, and bringing innovative products to market. Clients, including SAP, Adobe Software, Sagent, and Hewlett-Packard, have relied on Cooper for various projects.

Cooper’s keynote is part of a week’s worth of valuable sessions and presentations being held March 17–20, 2008, at the Wyndham Hotel and Palm Springs Convention Center. From the presummit seminars to the in-depth technical presentations, this three-and-one-half-day gathering offers more than 50 hours of job-critical training. All developers and software architects interested in the ESRI developer platform are encouraged to attend.
