Norcross, Georgia, USA — Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announces the release of Leica TITAN 2008. This dynamic online solution allows users and communities to share geospatial data, web services and location-based content internal and external to an organization, and to a variety of client applications.
“Users and organizations need a central, safe environment to share, discover, visualize, access and retrieve geospatial information,” said Mladen Stojic, Senior Vice President, Product Management and Marketing, Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging. “With a software application connecting authors and consumers of data, Leica TITAN is the solution for data sharing and the geospatial data bridge for serving data to a variety of Internet, desktop and virtual globe applications.”
Complete with intuitive navigation tools, Leica TITAN empowers users to share imagery, terrain, 3D models, location-based content, feature datasets and web services, while retaining digital ownership rights. Using the free web-enabled Leica TITAN Client, which includes the Leica TITAN Viewer and Geospatial Instant Messenger, a global network of users interact, download, and share data. Users then create a MyWorld, a geographically enabled personal space to upload data, set permissions and share content with other users in the network.
Also supporting secure, permission-based data distribution for entire organizations, the Leica TITAN GeoHub enables an organization to participate as a community on the Leica TITAN Network. By implementing the Leica TITAN Master Server, an organization can create a private and isolated network, functioning without connecting to the Leica TITAN Network.
“Leica TITAN is a distinctive data sharing solution, incorporating social networking and security, while also promoting ownership and interoperability for both individuals and organizations,” said Bob Morris, President and CEO, Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging. “The versatility of this tool not only supports the sharing of information, but also real-time communication vital to a broad array of organizations, including government and commercial data providers, GIS data clearinghouses and city, county, state and federal agencies.”
