GeoPDF® format to be available as output option for Cadcorp® users
ATLANTA, GA – February 12, 2008 – TerraGo Technologies today announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Computer Aided Development Corporation Limited (‘Cadcorp’), making the GeoPDF format available to users of Cadcorp SIS® – Spatial Information System®, around the world as an output option for geospatial data from their family of GIS applications.
GeoPDF is the only geospatial data distribution and collaboration format that leverages the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) to give users powerful mapping functionality and capabilities via Adobe Reader®, an application already installed on hundreds of millions of computers worldwide. Utilizing the GeoPDF format, Cadcorp SIS users can extend maps, imagery and attribute data to virtually any computer in a portable format that most people already know how to use, making it simple and cost-effective for GIS professionals to share geospatial data with everyone.
“The ability to export files in the GeoPDF format extends the already extensive PDF export capability of Cadcorp SIS and gives global Cadcorp customers more options for publishing geospatial data to a variety of users,” said Martin Daly, technical director, Cadcorp. “This capability will help our customers be more effective while better leveraging their current technology investments.”
Cadcorp provides digital mapping and geospatial management solutions to a wide variety of organizations around the world. The company’s flagship product line is Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System, an integrated and complete family of desktop, web, developer and mobile GIS products. Cadcorp customers will utilize Map2PDF® to create GeoPDF files and add capabilities that allow field users to mark up files and export comments to other users.
After the GeoPDF files are enabled for markups and comments, they can be distributed by email, CD or on thumb drives. End users access the GeoPDF Toolbar, a plug-in to Adobe applications, to view and manipulate GeoPDF files -- querying attributes, displaying a variety of mapping data, utilizing mapping functions and adding notes and comments.
“This partnership is a very positive development for both TerraGo Technologies and Cadcorp,” says Brian Soliday, TerraGo Technologies vice president. “The GeoPDF format can extend value for Cadcorp customers and their worldwide presence helps us make GeoPDF available to new markets in Europe and around the world.”
A Map2PDF version for Cadcorp SIS applications will be available at the next release.
