Avenza Announces MAPdataCanada - a complete royalty-free library of Canada-wide data in Shape file format

Toronto, ON, October 10, 2007 - Avenza Systems Inc., the developer of MAPublisher map production software, Geographic Imager spatial imaging software and MAPdataUSA, announces the release of MAPdataCanada, a new library of royalty-free Canada-wide data in Shape file format based on source Canadian, Provincial and Territorial data files. Enhancements include a joined road layer with concatenated road names to a single column for easier labeling and selecting, proper name directory and file structure of all provinces and territories in a convenient DVD package.

“Customers tell us this DVD will save them countless lost hours locating, downloading and manipulating Canadian data to suit their particular requirements,” said Ted Florence, president of Avenza Systems Inc. “Furthermore, as royalty-free data for Canada has heretofore been very difficult to obtain, this royalty-free data set forms the perfect base for a variety of mapping and GIS projects involving Canadian jurisdictions so it’s no surprise that we have had a waiting list of customers anxious to take delivery of this new data set,” he added.

Summary of MAPdataCanada benefits

- DVD library provides easy access to complete Canada-wide data
- completely royalty-free for all uses
- presented in shape file format for direct use with MAPublisher and most GIS packages
- organized by province or territory using proper names for easy and convenient access
