Redlands, California—Educators using ESRI geographic information system (GIS) technology in advanced GIScience research are invited to participate in a new GIScience research track at the 2008 ESRI Education User Conference (ESRI EdUC), August 2–5, 2008, at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina in California.
Nine papers will be selected for presentation at one of three sessions during the ESRI EdUC and will be peer reviewed and published in the journal Transactions in GIS.
“This is a great opportunity to share your work with your peers in the GIScience community and to get a paper published in a major, peer-reviewed journal,” says Dr. David Maguire, chief scientist, ESRI.
The GIScience Track is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, so that educators attending the concurrently held ESRI User Conference (ESRI UC) can also visit this special track and learn about advances in GIScience research. Both the ESRI UC and ESRI EdUC offer a comprehensive view of GIS technology, providing demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and a variety of paper sessions.
“This will be a unique occasion for the academic community to present and share their latest research findings to the GIS education community,” says Ann Johnson, higher education solutions manager, ESRI.
Abstracts of 500 words may be submitted until October 15, 2007, to Dr. John Wilson, University of Southern California, at
