Bentley Appoints Mike Sedgwick as Vice President, Civil and Transportation Sales PDF Print E-mail
Written by Bentley Systems Inc
Friday, 05 October 2007
EXTON, Pa. – Oct. 4, 2007 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated has appointed Mike Sedgwick as vice president, Bentley Civil and Transportation Sales, for the Americas region. Sedgwick brings more than 30 years of experience in engineering automation software sales to both commercial and government organizations. He has seven years of experience at Bentley in roles ranging from civil engineering consultant for state departments of transportation (DOTs) to industry sales executive for Canada and the northeastern United States.

“Mike’s background in the civil engineering community and extensive experience as a sales professional are a winning combination for our user organizations as well as for Bentley,” said Ted Lamboo, Bentley senior vice president, Civil and Geospatial. “Mike fully understands that in order for our sales teams to succeed, they must ensure that our users are successful and achieve their business goals. His insight into the obstacles DOTs and other civil and transportation organizations face today will help his teams advise users on the best technology solutions for their needs.”

In his new position, Sedgwick is responsible for civil sales, technical support, administration, and marketing in the Americas. Sedgwick’s technology background includes tenures at leading software firms, such as Universal Systems and Intergraph, and at state agencies, including the New York State Office of General Services. His professional accomplishments include affiliations with the American Association of State and Highway Transportation Officials and the Highway Engineering Exchange Program, and he also is a member of the GTC Advisory Board.

“These are both challenging and exciting times in the architecture, engineering, and construction market as DOTs lose the ‘interstate’ generation of engineers to retirement and gain a younger, more technology-savvy workforce,” said Sedgwick. “Much of the inherent knowledge in the older, more experienced personnel is being lost, which is causing DOTs to increasingly rely on technology to compensate for any potential lost productivity.”

He continued, “My goal is to make sure that we at Bentley help these users select the technology solutions that are the best match with their requirements and lead to streamlined workflows, increased productivity, and enhanced project quality.”
