Developers Can Now Integrate High-Quality NAVTEQ Map Data Easily and Efficiently
VICTORIA, British Columbia, Sept. 25 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, announced today from the 2007 Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G) conference in Victoria, BC, Canada, that it is licensing its map data in a format that is optimized for use with MapServer and MapGuide Open Source through DM Solutions Group (DMSG). DMSG converted NAVTEQ data for use on both platforms, resulting in the first
off-the-shelf NAVTEQ solution for these technologies. DMSG is a leading provider of solutions and services to users of both MapServer and MapGuide Open Source, the community this new offering is geared towards.
NAVTEQ map data, formatted for MapServer and MapGuide Open Source, is licensed by DMSG to customers of DMSG's turnkey solutions and developers enabling them to easily build Web mapping applications using this
out-of-the-box solution. When converting the data, DMSG was able to structure the data so it is efficient to use on both open source platforms. Additionally, when the optimized data is used on MapServer and MapGuide Open Source the results are high quality-maps with professional cartographic styling that are legible at almost any scale and applicable to a wide variety of uses.
