Welcome to a new feature as I share a few of my favorite things with our readers. Look below and you'll find a new section where I'll be sharing some of my favorite things with you. I'm digging into the old goodie bag, my bookmarks, blogs etc... and sharing with you some cool apps, mashups, free data, blogs, and photos that I've captured over the years... enjoy!
Suggested Application... GeoBuddy is geocaching software GeoBuddy displays all of the geocaches in your area, as well as your own personal GPS data, over USGS topo maps, aerial photos, and your own scanned paper trail and road maps. A built-in Web browser lists all of the information about each geocache, including pictures and hints left by the cache owner, and logs by recent visitors to the geocache. Supports most major GPS devices.
Suggested Mashups... LiveLook Geolocated Webcams This application uses the Google Maps API to mashup and present the location of webcams that are near you. By default it locates you (I assume based on IP) although you can optionally specify a region by city name etc...devices.
Suggested Free Data Resource... Wyoming GIS Data Resource Page Need GIS data for Wyoming? Fear no more as this resource has it all - see wgiac.state.wy.us/html/wgrp.asp. Browse the GIS directory, use the Internet Map Server, Search for GIS books and newsletters, browse orthos.. you name it.. what a great resource! .
Suggested Blog... Lynn Allen's Blog If you're an AutoCAD user or a CAD engineer that can recall using AutoCAD prior to R10 then you know Lynn. She's Autodesk's technical evangelist and travels the World preaching to the followers about the how-to's of AutoCAD. Not specifically a "Geo" blog, her posts are educational, humorous, and useful for any AutoCAD product user. .. for more geoblog tips see here
My Favorite Photos... A Visit to Monaco Yes indeed, I love travelling and taking pictures is a passion of mine. Hopefully you've hit my flickr and checked out some photos... if not do so the next time you have a minute to burn. This photos was captured after visiting Princess Grace's monument high above the city. You have a great view of the city and the harbor.. check out the yachts... NICE! For more of my photos see the GISuser Fickr
These are just a couple of my favorite things that I'd like to share with you... stay tuned for more or, tell me about some of your favorite Geospatial things!
