12th September 2007, Cambridge, UK. 1Spatial have released Radius Topology™ 2.7, this new version includes Radius Topology Wrappers; seven tools that address a number of challenges faced by organisations, particularly those in the Utilities, Local Government and Central Government market sectors.
Radius Topology Wrappers are standard components deployed with Radius Topology 2.7 that provide simple user interfaces to help users get the most value from their topology data. 1Spatial created the Wrappers based on feedback from users of the existing Radius Topology technology.
Each Wrapper serves a different function that streamlines common data quality tasks and provides additional benefits to both existing and new users of Radius Topology. The BLPU extent creation Wrapper offers time-savings for UK Local Authorities when generating BLPU (Basic Land and Property Unit) Extent Polygons. The Wrapper automatically creates the vast majority of the polygons using OS MasterMap areas and a set of BLPU points, hugely reducing manual effort involved.
Another new feature is the PAI Audit Wrapper. PAI (Positional Accuracy Improvement) involves shifting asset data to line up with shifted version of the base data, performed by a variety of tools on the market. This Wrapper compares the 'before shift' and 'after shift' data, alerting the user whenever a feature has changed its shape or topological relationship to the base mapping or to other features. The Wrapper offers a powerful and accurate way to check and quantify the results of the shifting process.
Other features include Network Conflation and Polygon Conflation Wrappers which enable users to easily build live views that make data conflation and quality auditing much faster and more powerful, such as the overlaps, holes or misalignments between data. The Geometric Data Cleaning Wrapper detects and/or removes geometric errors such as spikes, duplicate vertices or small polygon outer or inner rings.
The core Radius Topology product has also been enhanced in a number of areas, such as providing more powerful data management functionality and increasing the amount of information provided to the user.
