Keck & Wood, Inc. is excited to announce the upcoming release of a CD-ROM based version of our popular instructor led course entitled "Using AutoCAD Data in ArcGIS". We will begin shipping the CD-ROM version in September.
The Using AutoCAD data in ArcGIS course teaches the basic skills ArcGIS users need to use and integrate AutoCAD DWG and DXF files into their maps and geodatabases. Upon completion of this course users will be able to: • Understand the DWG/DXF file format • View DWG/DXFs in ArcCatalog • Add DWG/DXF files as layers in ArcMap • Query & symbolize drawing layers using standard DWG or DXF attributes • Convert DWG/DXF data to a geodatabase or shapefiles • Georeference and spatially adjust a DWG or DXF • Use and convert DWG or DXF annotation The instructor led version of this class has already proven to be very successful. Students have given it high marks.
According to David Mckee, Building Inspector & GIS Analyst for Dawson County, Georgia, “I would recommend this class to everyone in the GIS field that has anything to do with any form of AutoCAD data.”
Lucas Veale, with Kern & Coleman, LLC., said “I now have a better understanding how to use CAD in my GIS instead of just forcing things to work and can now evaluate a situation and develop a better plan of how to use my given information” after completing the class.
Both the CD-ROM and Instructor led versions are intended for those with moderate to advanced ArcGIS experience. This class takes about 16 hours to complete depending on the user’s skill level. Students purchasing the CD-ROM version will receive all the lectures and exercise data on disk as well as a bound lecture book and exercise book. Students will need a copy of ArcGIS Desktop 9.2 and Internet Explorer to complete the class. A 60 day demo version of ArcView 9.2 maybe ordered for free from ESRI via their website.
The CD-ROM based version will list for $100.00. Pre-orders are now being taken with a discount of $25 off the regular price of this course. This discount is valid for all orders placed before September 1, 2007. To place an order or for more information, please contact us at
