Autodesk Education; supporting students and educators  E-mail
Written by Glenn Letham (GISuser editor)

Like many "big name companies" Autodesk is committed to supporting students and educators. They do so by providing access to powerful design software, innovative programs and resources designed to inspire the next generation of professionals to experience their ideas before they're real. By advancing education in the key areas of science, technology, engineering, math and visual communication, Autodesk is helping students develop critical skills for future academic and career success. Read on for more about the Autodesk student design community website, free educational software opportunities, and a student contest with fantastic prizes.

Students, be sure to take advantage of these free programs and resources while you can... I did but wished I would have done even more!

Looking for discounted or free educational software from Autodesk? There are two ways students can get access to Autodesk software: by joining Autodesk's free Student Engineering & Design Community site or by purchasing at a discounted educational rate.

To support their educational offerings, Autodesk EDU  provides an online collaboration community via the student Engineering & Design Community  - a place where students and educators alike can join forums, download software, tools, curriculum and more. Even more???  Check it out at See http://www.students.autodesk.com/ - Note: A school issued email address will make registration much easier and faster for you!

Memeber Benefits:
- download free student editions of Autodesk software
- find jobs
- discuss projects & share work
- learn from community experts
- find out about industry and educational trends in your field
- take self-paced tutorials on all downloadable products
- ask & answer questions
- make new friends!

Members of the community are also encouraged to take part in the annual Student Engineering & Desdign competition. This year the winner took home a sweet prize (HP xw4400 Workstation with 20” flat panel monitor) for submitting a design for a Wheelchair for the 21st Century
