terra IMS Releases geoXtract: Map Mashup Software Allows Users to Easily Integrate Data with Google Maps and Google Earth
July 5, 2007 -- terra IMS announces the release of geoXtract™, a powerful desktop application that provides users with an easy way to integrate existing data in a variety of formats with Google Maps™ and Google Earth™.
geoXtract™ provides an intuitive “wizard” interface that leads users through data selection, data configuration, data processing, and data publishing. All data processing is automated with geoXtract™, so there is no need for users to manually create each data point that will be displayed on the map. Users can easily integrate tens, hundreds, and even thousands of points with Google Maps™ and Google Earth™, and there is absolutely no programming required.
Data processed with geoXtract™ can be saved and published to various target environments, including a local/network drive, a web server, and even the geoXtract.com web site. The geoXtract.com web site allows users to publish their maps to a centralized repository, where maps can be centrally managed and displayed in a map gallery. Users can tag maps with keywords, email friends with links to maps, integrate the hosted maps into their own web pages, and more. Map hosting is provided free for all geoXtract™ users.
geoXtract™ eliminates the need for users to do any programming or manual data processing to generate a Google Map™ that displays a user's data. An essential and unique advantage of geoXtract™ is that it allows users to save their data processing configuration as a project, thereby enabling users to easily recreate and update their maps whenever their data changes.
terra IMS developed geoXtract™ as part of its continuing effort to extend the reach of Internet mapping solutions to a broader audience. geoXtract™ is provided in both free and commercial versions.
