LookLocal Puts Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, Live Search Maps at your fingertips PDF Print E-mail

looklocal idelixBeen to the Idelix Labs lately? This is the developer resource where beta apps and other cool things the Vancouver-based company is working on are hosted. One such application launched last year is LookLocal... think of it as the ultimate map mashup where users can flip-flop their mapping between all the big boys in the mashup world - Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps,  and Live Search Maps. Oh... and perhaps coolest of all, integrate Idelix PDT into your mapping experience for a close up look and friendly navigation. Recall, PDT that nifty little "lens" for "magnifying" what appears on your computer display screen.

Access and compare data from all the 3 map services, view over 6,000 traffic cams, import your own KML layers, search or get directions, and much more.

From the company... LookLOCAL Traffic provides you access to the most comprehensive network of traffic cameras and incident reporting available in North America and the UK. The Explore Vacation Spots tab allows you to explore some of the world's best travel destinations as determined by destination experts that include travel agents worldwide, Sherman's Travel, Lonely Planet, Golf Magazine, and more! On this tab you can also add your own KML files to personalize your map and share your adventures with friends and family. You can also search for products, map directions, and explore your world with IDELIX's patented in-place magnification technology called Pliable Display Technology-or PDT.

Finally, if you'd like to get access to these maps from with Outlook the company has a related product of interest in LookOUT. LookOUT is a great new add-in for Microsoft® Outlook® that enables you to easily map a location or find directions straight from your Outlook Contacts window.

Notice in all the example images above how the search area of interest (Sea-Tac in this case) is encapsulated within a PDT screen, enabling fast pan, zoom and enhanced display
