Blue2can is an integrated solution for tagging digital still images with GPS data. Using a consumer, off-the-shelf BluetoothGPS unit and the industry leading Nikon D2X and D200* cameras, the Blue2can allows users to directly capture geospatially referenced images in the easiest, most reliable collection method today.
Direct Capture
The Blue2can provides camera area network solutions for Bluetooth GPS models to the ten pin portal of the camera. Through the Bluetooth camera area network, the Nikon D2X and D200 captures the data being streamed into its GPS input port, directly populating the EXIF metadata of the JPEG image file. With direct capture, users of the Blue2can will save time and reduce errors in image mapping. Information captured in the EXIF metadata of the JPEG image file can be read by Red Hen Systems MediaMapper, IsWhere and PixPoint for ArcGIS to create map features linked directly to the photo file or used in any mapping application that supports EXIF GPS metadata. Tagging images with GPS metadata as soon as they are taken eliminates the post-processing steps required with most other methodologies. The union of time, date, and location data with imagery is a powerful model enabling informed decision-making.
