Michael Jones from Google Earth to Keynote at GeoWeb 2007  E-mail

Vancouver, BC, April 26, 2007 - The organizers of GeoWeb 2007 announced today that they are pleased to welcome Michael Jones, chief technologist for Google Earth and Google Maps, as the keynote speaker for this year's GeoWeb conference (www.geoweb.org). Michael also keynoted at GeoWeb 2006.

GeoWeb 2007 will take place July 23-27, 2007, at the Morris J. Wosk Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. The conference's principal theme, "From Mashups to Infrastructure," reflects the breadth, the evolution and the growing maturity of the GeoWeb. Through workshops, paper presentations and interactive plenary sessions the conference will address the GeoWeb's meaningful role in mainstream, mission-critical applications.

Jones will open this year's final conference day with a morning address in the Asia-Pacific Hall. Jones is the chief technologist for Google Earth and Google Maps, Google's innovative mapping technologies. Jones is a popular technical presenter, an inventor with eleven issued US patents, a director on private company boards, and an associate in several interesting Silicon Valley projects.

Google is also a platinum sponsor for this year's conference.

The GeoWeb conferences are about unleashing the economic potential associated with the convergence of XML, Web services, and geographic information systems, known as the GeoWeb. Organized via partnership between Galdos Systems Inc. (Galdos) and the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA), GeoWeb 2007 welcomes both public and private organizations to meet, discuss, and learn about today's most innovative geospatial technologies and the possibilities related to this important technological shift.
