Company Photographs and Delivers over 40,000 Digital, Georeferenced Aerial Images in Less Than One Month
ROCHESTER, NY - April 26, 2007 - Pictometry International Corp., the worldwide leader in digital, aerial oblique imagery and measuring software systems today announced that the Hendry County, FL Property Appraiser has implemented the company's aerial imaging technology as part of the organization's efforts to increase efficiencies and improve services to its constituents.
Hendry County is situated in the South Central Region of Florida and occupies 1,162.95 square miles with a population of over 39,000 residents (2005 Census). The Hendry County Property Appraiser is responsible for managing valuations for over 36,700 real estate parcels in the county with a total taxable value that was over 2 billion dollars (2006 Tax Roll Data).
"Using this technology along with our traditional valuation procedures, we will be able to more efficiently and more accurately review and supplement our valuations that we are required to conduct on an annual basis," said Henry County Property Appraiser, Kristina Kupla. "The Pictometry system will enable us to better equalize valuations and assist residents in understanding how valuations are determined."
Pictometry is the industry's most advanced oblique aerial imaging system, enabling users to easily access up to 20 oblique (at an angle, in a 3D-like manner) aerial photos of any building, highway, or other feature. The company's patented imaging capture technology and easy-to-use software enables users to instantly obtain measurements such as distance, height, and area directly from the Intelligent Images(r) as well as overlay GIS data and create fully textured, Pictometry Real3D(tm) models. As an ESRI Developer Partner, Pictometry provides additional GIS solutions that include an ESRI ArcGIS extension, ArcIMS integration, ArcSDE support, and coordinate pass-through capabilities. More information on Pictometry's technical capabilities can be found at http://www.pictometry.com/pressrelease/fall06gis.asp.
As part of the company's standard license agreement, Pictometry's Rapid Response Program ensures that all its county customers that experience natural disasters such as a hurricane, receive post-disaster imaging services. Pictometry has significant experience in post-hurricane imagery where rapid turn-around of fully georeferenced images is completed in days. These new images can be viewed with the pre disaster images by using Pictometry Change Analysis(tm) software that enables government agencies to simultaneously view both before and after images to better plan and expedite restoration efforts. From an assessment perspective, this level of service enables property appraisers, in the event of a hurricane, to view impact of storm damage using Pictometry and issue trim notices that are reflective of any disaster impact upon properties in their area.
Pictometry began its aerial flights over Hendry County in early January and then processed and delivered over 40,000 unique, georeferenced aerial photos of the entire county at the end of the month. "The benefits of this system will be far reaching to all the citizens of Hendry County as we are introducing and administering the roll out of this state-of-the-art technology to all other qualified agencies in the county such as 9-1-1, law enforcement, fire departments, emergency management, and engineering," said Hendry County Chief Deputy Appraiser Clifford Wood.
