The Ottawa MapServer User Group is proud to host the Open Source GIS Conference 2004 and Second Annual MapServer User Meeting.
It is slated for June 9-11, 2004, at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). The three-day event encompasses two functions that occur concurrently. Each has unique seminars and workshops that share an underlying theme - the advancement of open source GIS technology.
The Open Source GIS conference will provide opportunities for both experienced and novice users to learn more about this exciting development in our industry. For users of open source technologies, a number of seminars and workshops are available to learn from the key developers and expert users of these technologies. For those interested in learning how to adopt open source GIS, a series of speakers will be delivering presentations on success stories and suggestions for making open source a reality in your organization.
The Second Annual MapServer User Meeting will follow on the highly successful inaugural event in Minnesota and will focus on MapServer technology including user experiences, technical workshops, and discussions about future developments.
The event is expected to draw over 300 people from across the globe representing the existing open source GIS user and developer community and interested participants from government, non-government organizations, academia, and industry. The future is about leveraging the power of open source technologies.
